5 amazing prehistoric creatures
When prehistoric creatures are mentioned, dinosaurs come to our minds. But what about other creatures? Well, here’s a list of 5 prehistoric creatures that will raise your curiosity levels.
The Megalania
The Megalania was dubbed “Giant Ripper Lizard”. Giant, because it measured 7m. Ripper, because it preyed upon kangaroos and wombats. Lizard, because at the end of the day, that’s what it was truly. Now just try not to freak out the next time you see a house lizard.
The Deinosuchus
Imagine a crocodile that hunted dinosaurs. That’s right the Deinosuchus was a ten ton monster measuring 12m. It is even believed that the Deinosuchus would battle with the much feared Tyrannosaurus Rex. This gives a good indication of the sheer power of the Deinosuchus.
The Megalodon
Sharks are at the root of a lot of scary stories. However, there used to be a time when the mighty shark had a deadlier alter ego. A 20m creature with teeth measuring 18cm. The Megalodon was so big, it had to prey on… whales!
The Titanoboa
The largest snake today measures 7m. The Titanoboa was two times longer and weighted a whooping 2500 pounds. Their size was discovered in 2009 in Columbia. In comparison, today’s snakes do not look that bad at all.
The Dunkleosteus
The Dunkleosteus was a fish, more commonly known as “Armoured Fish”. It was a 10m mastodon with parts of this body covered with articulated armoured plates. It comes to no surprise therefore that their diets consisted of fish, sharks and even their own kind.
